Ghost Angel

Ghost Angel - Front View This was created for an art doll challenge on the ArtDollz yahoo group using a Dollar Store (or other – mine was "other") torso to create an "ornie" aka ornament no larger than 7" tall. (I think this pushes that to the limit!)

I used a torso from a doll I had on hand, wrapped in cheesecloth then layered paint, molding paste and more paint until I was satisfied with the crypt-like finish. The wings are bones from some animal or other – pick one – beaver, coyote, deer or porcupine!

It was a rather sombre week waiting to hear how my fil’s operation (heart valve surgery on a 92 year old!) would play out hence the rather macabre finished product. Though in my defense she DOES have sparkles on her wings so she isn’t completely deathly! lol

FYI fil is up and around and already giving the nurses a hard time. I think I want some of whatever he’s having!!

Jen, I’ve missed you! And I love the “ornie”! Glad to hear that your FIL surgery went well, and is recovering nicely-if you find out what he’s having to make him feel so good-send some my way, too:)

  • This is fabulous! Love the idea of using bones as wings! PS – My friends and I are putting our heads together to do a road trip to see the Gorey exhibit!

  • Great piece Jen ! It is spooky, love the sparkles on the wings and the color choice.
