This week’s theme: Bicycles!
Anyone who knows me in RL, knows that bicycles are a rather important mainstay in my household. My oldest son is a cyclist/wrench(aka bike mechanic) extraordinaire. My second oldest son is a duathlete (aka run BIKE run) moving into the elite ranks. My daughter also competes in duathlon. My husband came late to cycling but is almost as strong as my sons and a triathlete to boot. I, too am a triathlete-in-training. We own at least 3 bicycles per person and our barn houses a few extras. Just. In. Case. So. Yah! Bicycles = very important. I can’t think of any better object to, well, objectify (!) for this week’s theme.

Day 22 - After the layer of Golden’s Absorbent Ground (Canvas) was dry - thank you, heat gun - I applied a wash of Anthraquinone Blue and Cad Yellow Orange. I glued down the image first and added some partial circles to reinforce the wheel shapes on the right hand side. I scudded in some Titanium White on the left side and dried with the heat gun to create some more bubbly texture. I glued the wordstring "the hiss of spinning wheels on a blacktop roadway" and did a wash of blue to integrate it into its surroundings. After adding a couple more circles on the right, I troweled in some white as well picking up highlights with blue and yellow on the bubbly parts. Reinforced some of the marks from the original collage at the bottom as well as elongating the wordstring strip of paper. The image was looking sort of lonely so I added some dots and lines to make the composition a bit more cohesive. This is quite a bit brighter than I normally work and I really resisted adding some black or muddying everything with a coat of Quin Gold.

NNot only am I enjoying the eye candy of all this new work, but to read how you went about it, only makes it better. So I see I’m not the only one that always wants to finish everything off with quid gold:)
The combination of the background and the photo here is fantastic. There is so much movement in this piece that I can almost feel the wind blow as I look at it!
these two colours work so well together jen, thanks for sharing
Look at them wizz by in a kaeloidescope(sp) of blue and golden moments. As for No.22 well guess my eyesight is not so good!!
