Ho! Ho! Ho!
Jen November 29th, 2007

Regular studio work has pretty much subsided while I work on Christmas related *stuff*. And no I can’t show it, sorry, lest those being gifted y’know actually read this. The above is currently sitting on my table - work in progress - but likely won’t be touched for awhile. The second of three raven heads I made out of flashing. I can highly recommend this cheap metal as it’s very accessible (read : cheap) and reasonably pliable so you don’t require specialized tools. But I digress.

Inspired by an online friend, I’ve been making Christmas/Holiday cards while watching TV. Armed with my new best friend pen - Zig .005 - and nary a pencil in sight, I’ve been drawing freehand onto pre-made 4 x 5" cards. In a previous life, I pretended I was Mary Englebreit and used to make/draw images like this one all the time. Small girls holding teddy bears, partridges in "bear trees", mice in santa hats drawn with my trusty - now deceased RIP - quill pen and black india ink, coloured with watercolours or Prismacolour pencils. Cute and oh! so precise. These aren’t quite that precious - a little raw around the edges and some ‘over the line’ colorations. But I’m having SUCH a good time. If you think you’d like one, I’d be most happy to oblige.

Oooh, the work in progress looks fantabulous.
I pulled out my Christmas decorations, and found I had saved your Santa card from last year in the decorations box so …. this year it’s a decoration.
xoxo
Love the hand drawn cards, you’re having way too much fun with this:) After taking your advice, I ordered Terry Taylor’s book and have it in my hot little mitts as we speak. After quickly paging through it, ideas are popping up all over the place-thanks for the great advice!
The raven is fabulous, the flashing I use has a rubber sticky back, yours looks very smooth.
Your card’s divine, very individual design.
I would love a card. Work in Progress….cool.
