Artist Book Challenge

I’m participating in a little challenge that calls for you (me) to haul a “how to” book off your shelf and do every single project therein. The reward: Learn new techniques. The bonus: Get your money’s worth from the book. I’m using a book called Metal Craft Discovery Workshop by Linda & Opie O’Brien. And here’s my first project:

Metal Workshop - Project 1

Metal Workshop - Project 1

I likely wouldn’t normally use the bottle caps (and learned to fully secure them BEFORE adding the medium!) but I do love this little shrine. I built the frame around a teeny tiny box (the whole thing measures …hmmm… maybe 4 x 3 x 2inches?) and transferred the image to a piece of sheet metal. The wood has been treated with copper paint then patina’d. On to project #2…

One Comment:

  1. Good for you! If I only did a few of the projects from one book before moving on to the next , it would be quite something :-)
