Challenge #4

In case you’ve been removed from your TV, radio, internets, we on the East Coast have been PLUNGED into the deep freeze. Yes! I know we’re supposed to be used to it. And yes! I know it’s our fault for living in this frozen waste land known as Canada. And yes! I even know there ARE other parts of the world that don’t have to experience the chill and cold. Been there. Heard it all before. And I might’ve even added, "Talk to the hand." but I’ve been informed by The Powers That Be (read: my 16 year old know-it-all AND the local radio station) that is SO ’90s with rendering of eyes and rolling of head. So I won’t. But you might indulge me in pondering wistfully about years past when I was lucky enough to loll in daytime temperatures higher than -10°C, feel the sunshine’s warmth bore into my back, sniff the orange blossoms on the breeze. Which brings me to this week’s challenge.

Challenge #4 - Citrus

WEEKLY CHALLENGE #4

The Challenge: Make a collage based on the theme: CITRUS. Remember, "collage" does not have to mean paper. You could use photos or fabric or metal or doll parts. As long as it stretches your Art Muscles! Further, if you normally work small, I want you to work big. And if you normally, work large, grab those ATC cards that’ve been sending shivers up your spine.

Post’em:  Post a link to your collage challenge in the comments below. I’ll do a draw of all the participants and they’ll receive my finished collage in the mail; another win-win proposition.

Due:  Post by Friday, February 1, 2008 (12:00pm AST) to be qualified for the draw.

  1. Mine was also my "thing a day" for that challenge. Not my usual thing at all. You can see it at:

  2. I am in a complete panic because it's friday night and there's no new challenge. Husbeast is out for the evening, and I'm sitting here with my studio all revved up and NOTHING TO DO.

    *whimper*

    I neeeeeeed my fix! :) :) :)

  3. All done! I was kinda free with the theme, but this idea got stuck in my head right away:

  4. Here is my bowl of oranges and lemons. Sorry its a bit late I think! Then I decided to think of all the lemony words I know and add this to it.

18 x 24"….freakin' HUGE after working on ATC-sized stuff this long. And acrylic doesn't behave like watercolor. Go figure. :)

Thanks, Jen — this has been sooo much fun so far!

  9. I have to say that I have not been able to get the whole monoprint thing out of my mind. SO I am determined, that today or tomorrow (when kiddies are in school) I will give it a go. I've never done this before..so it ought to be interesting. {: Thanks for the inspiration!

  10. Another fun project, Jen. Thanks for the inspiration. Here is a link to my collage, "Tang".

  14. "Your" weather brings to mind the Quebec song: Mon pays ce n'est pas un pays, c'est l'hiver….

Bundle up from head to toe. It's the only way. Oh, and it's temporary. It's freezing in TO, too…
