The meaning of the challenge…

The main takeaway that I garnered from my Art Book Challenge - completing each and every project in Metal Discovery Workshop - was the process of making the project, any project, my own.  It isn’t always easy, particularly if you don’t fully jive with the project or in this case, the weekly challenge. And creating outside of one’s comfort zone is never  …well… comfortable. But if you can find something that links to you personally – subject matter perhaps, or modifying it slightly, using fabric instead of paint for example – then moving outside your self-imposed box becomes less difficult. And who knows you might just discover something new about your process, your art or your vision. And how exciting is that?!

Case in point, Bridget Benton decided to do a "twofer": combine this week’s "Sharpie’n'Gesso" challenge with another themed prompt of "breakfast". Going beyond the suggestion of a glossy magazine photo and using her own photograph of her (really yummy looking) breakfast, gave her challenge that very personal connection we are all after. I absolutely LOVE the resulting image. Kudos Bridget!
