Challenge #10

WEEKLY CHALLENGE #10

Encased Hearts - Tejae's online class

The Challenge:  Finish a project that you’ve had sitting on your shelf, desk, table, whereEVER , just (paraphrasing Nike) FINISH it!

I’ll be working on another Encased Heart that I started in Tejae Floyd’s online class. I’ve been putting this off TOO long. This week is the week. What will YOU finish?!?

Post’em:  A two post criteria this time.

  1. Post a comment stating your intention of  THE PROJECT you want to finish.
  2. Post an additional comment with a link to your FINISHED project. Remember you can use our Flickr group if you don’t have a place to post photos.

Only those posting both the first AND second post will be eligible for the week’s random draw.

Due:  Post by Friday, March 14, 2008.

Can’t wait to see what y’all come up with. Let the challenge begin!

I finally finished my piece for the challenge! I posted it on my blog, and there is a link directly to the image here: http://bp1.blogger.com/_gostUX8C8zI/R9r_RwkyzqI/AAAAAAAAAG8/ZzGhfPfXswU/s1600-h/bowl-of-fruit.jpg

This is my first challenge… I didn’t know we had to have posted the pix before 12:01am today! Or did I miss where you put the time (as opposed to the date) deadline?

Well, anyhoo, here are my *two* finished projects! I’d forgotten to add a last detail on the assemblage, and the artist book I finished EARLY this morning.

P.S. I love your hearts, and Stacy’s mosaic!

  7. Dusty says:

I didn’t get it finished, but I am further ahead…this was helpful.

  8. Franswazz says:

Here is the finished little sculpture aka a “foot taping”….and please ignore the “larding needle” in the link. I do not really know how to do a static page !

  9. I loved this challenge Jen. It made me realize that I can not only finish things, but I can also do them faster than I thought I could. It’s only Thursday afternoon and I’ve already posted the result to my blog. Thanks.

  10. Dusty says:

I have a piece of sea glass waiting to be finished. I put copper tape around the edge and tried to get a blue patina. I guess I have until tonight to decide what it is going to be when it grows up.

  11. Lisa MB says:

Ugh — I’ve been kicking myself in the pants trying to motivate and get two projects done myself. Just this week I posted about finishing this assemblage sculpture for Artfest, and now I need to finish an LK Ludwig artist book I started back in October last year.

  12. Artsy Mama says:

    I have an 16 x 20 collage I need to finish. I’m in.

  13. Tricia says:

I would love to join in your challenge… this is a link to the piece of art work i hope to finish…

  14. What a fab idea for a challenge! I’m already commited because I posted mine to my blog. Now I have to actually do it.
P.S. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the encased heart.

  15. Ok….all done.

I plan to turn THIS piece into part of a shrine eventually, but I accomplished my week’s goal of attaching the butterfly and making the surrounding mosaic…so I’ze happy! ;-)

  16. Lisa says:

Like most people, I have a bunch of unfinished stuff lying around, so this will be a good one to do! I think I’ll finish the painting/collage I started for ArtSoMoFo. The background is done but it’s just been sitting here. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s finished projects. :-)

  17. Jo Stables says:

    Oooh, I’m in!
I have a journal that hass been waiting for the cover to be finished for a few months now!
Thanks for the kick in the pants to get these things finished Jen!

  18. I have a tempered glass mosaic butterfly…smallish…that I have been wanting to attach to a larger mosaic piece….but it’s HARD to do this. I’m going to try to tackle it this week.

I’m glad I came back and re-read this post because the first time, I didn’t catch that we were supposed to post twice.

i took a class with lk ludwig at artfest 2006. i’ve been waiting to finish the project. my notes are scant, so i’m going out to buy her book today to finish things up.

  20. I think I’ll just watch this week, I don’t have any un-finished projects, as I’m in the middle of moving everythings kind of packed up anyway. Have fun!!

  21. Franswazz says:

Yeah!!!!!!!! I too am in: my podiatrist taped part of my feet and when I removed the tapes after a week or so they looked so great, kind of like a mold of my feet that I decided to collage them…..never finished the 1st one so I intend to do just that, finish the first one!

  22. lee says:

I have an acrylic painting that needs to be finished. I am in. I need to get it finished.

  23. marcia says:

Okay, I have quite a few to choose from. I have a polymer clay matchbox amulet sitting on my shelf for some months now (not really sure how many). I have been “going to finish it” for al least two months. Count me in!

  24. yikes I have so many it will be hard to pick… I will look throughthings later today and decide on one.

  25. norma says:

Oh Boy I believe I can accept this challenge- a watercolour to finish,(even start again and finish!?) and more experimenting with an encaustic!

  26. Dale says:

I’ll try to do this one :) . I have an atc that i started, that uses watercolour with cool black stitching outlining the painted fruit. It got set asside, bout time to finish this one off!

  27. I’ll take you up on this one Jen. I have a pendant that I started last October in a class with Robert Dancik and STILL haven’t finished. It will feel so good to finish this up!

  28. tejae says:

i’ve got my eye on you jen. :)
