Challenge #13

MONTHLY CHALLENGE #1
So I’ve been thinking about what I’d like our first MONTHLY Challenge to be and I’ve had a number of ideas and ended up kind of melding them all together. Something that would warrant taking a month to attempt and finish. Something that *I* personally have wanted to play with. A win-win situation. And you all know how much I love THOSE!

The Challenge: Create a triptych* using these items:
- WORD: From a book, a magazine, a tag, a piece of ephemera, a dictionary definition.
- TAPE: Duct tape, aluminium duct tape, masking tape, soldering tape, packing tape, measuring tape.
- FOUND OBJECT: Reach into your junk drawer and grab an object. Pick up that "something" you spot on the ground during your morning walk. That ‘je ne sais quoi’ you’ve been saving for a rainy day. Guess what? Rain’s here!
* Triptych(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych) could be ATC sized or as big or small as you like. It can be an assemblage, a collage, made from fabric or clay or wood or paper. In other words, be an artist. Create!
Post’em: Post a link to your finished triptych in the comments below. Remember you can use our Flickr group if you don’t have a place to post photos.
Due: You have the whole month of May. Post by midnight Saturday, May 31, 2008.
Can’t wait to see what y’all come up with. Let the challenge begin!

I’ve been reading your blog for quite a while, but don’t comment much, and never joined in the weekly challenges or anything. Is it ok to jump in now and try this monthly challenge even though I’ve never done any of the other challenges?
Normally I respond personally to each person that comments, as I did with Nicole. But just wanted to say, in case anyone else felt they could only participate if they’d taken EVERY challenge…
Please! please! Join in! Anytime. Any Challenge. Go back (click the “Art Challenge” link under Talking About to the right) and join in an older one, do’em all or simply do what your heart desires. These are always about stretching yourself artistically. And having fun!
ciao for now … Jen
I’m so glad I clicked on the link from your flickr…this challenge of yours is just what I need…Indeed, I have ALL the required materials…I haven’t worked w/ them in sooo long…Thanks for the challenge! Can we post before the dead line? Or only after the deadline?
sheather, we’d love to see what you make to help inspire us along our way!
Jen, this sounds like a totally fab challenge. I love the ideas that you have here. As for tape, does it need to be one of the tape you listed? How about copper tape?
Can’t wait to get started, try this out myself, and see what some other people make! It’s a great challenge.
Just want to address Dale’s question, which I answered via email. Use any tape you want/have/that inspires you. My list was merely an attempt to start your creative juices flowing. Can’t wait to see what others come up with. Remember! Enjoy the process.
sounds like fun!
