Flu-by-Four ‘n’ Fembots

I dunno. I musta pissed off Mother Nature this Fall because I seem to have had more than one person’s fair share of The Ick. Got hit by the flu-by-four on Wednesday and only been able to raise my head long enough to see that the world truly is still out there. Today? A bit better and final able to fall in love with my new computer. Vista and Photoshop are playing nicely and this thing is SPEEDY. Oh yah baby.

And with that was able to FINALLY get some photos of the latest studio creations.

Bone Angel
Bone Angel : 11″h w. 10″ wingspan

Bone Angel is the least “decorated” of the bunch but I rather love her simplicity. Using a de-limbed “Barbie” as a substrate she was coated with plaster and cloth to smooth out her form, simplify her face. Painted with gesso then acrylics with a final spritz of silver on her face, a petticoat of old window screening and her bone wings were added. A screw eye allows her to be hung.

Queen Fembot
Queen Fembot : 11″h x 4″w

Queen FemBot started out with the same “Barbie” substrate and plaster, cloth coating. A rusted ring that attaches to the spring fits around her head inspiring her circle-of-nails crown. A subtle nod in both the Lady Liberty and Crown of Thorns direction. Your choice! The plaster wasn’t mixed quite correctly for this one so the bottom piece is quite soft, almost leather like allowing a bit of flow for the dangles of bells and silver beads. I used my dapping block to create the bust cups out of vintage metal flashing. They look lovely and worn with thin cracks. Click on the photo to see it in its original size. Measuring 11″hx4″w she has an eye screw for hanging.

Fembot Angel
FemBot Angel : 12″h with 7″w wingspan

FemBot Angel was the inspiration for the “FemBot” name though perhaps she’s more closely related to the SteamPunk genre. I don’t know. Either way, I quite love her! Again, a “Barbie” substrate wrapped with plaster and cloth she has brass mesh wings and a myriad of gears and metal bits attached to her including a metal ring to hang. She measures 12″h with a 7″wing span.

I’m starting a new Etsy shop and these will all be available for sale there. Links to come!
