Paper casting and the winner

This is going to be a long post so I’m dividing it in two … Challenge #10 will follow.

First the paper casting challenge… I mentioned to someone (Jo maybe?) that I would post a photo of a tp casting I’d done and then used rusting paint on it. You really can’t tell it’s toilet paper until you turn it over. AND light as a feather. Rock! Apologies for the very dark photo – rusted stuff is hard to take pictures of.

These next two are toilet paper casts as well. The one on the left is a stamp and the other is actually from a shell. Lisa‘s doing a conch shell.

On to my paper casts – I did 3 casts, one “just paper” and these were the two I was most happy with. Note to self: when doing anything like this be sure to use stamps that you actually *like*. I’m less than enamoured with the sun shape for this application, a cheapy foam stamp and big. Great for backgrounds, not so good for papercasting. The depressions are too deep giving some weird effects. NOT in a good way. Still learning curve right? I painted with a very watery iridescent bronze paint then went back over with very dry black paint.

And now the final casting AND the prize for this week’s random draw. An impression from a MadRat Rubber stamp of fishscales. LOVE how it turned out – it looks better in person, imho - glued down to a 6×6″ canvas, with plaster gauze, molding paste and acrylics. I had such fun playing with this one. Yeah Carla!
