A new beginning?

As I packed things up and sent them off and the remains, well, remained, I found I wasn’t quite able to chuck everything. I found that I was still rather attached to objects I’d collected with a particular project in mind. I found myself squirreling those away. Not quite able to let go.

I did clear my studio.

Except for one corner.

My studio is now my gym.

I visit it at least 3 times per week. Often 5 times.

Today I stood at another table. In another room. Creating.

This might be my last project.

But it might not.

  1. Hmmmmm…now you have me curious!

  2. Oh, I hope you don't stop. But whatever you are working on, I know it will be genius. Now you are body sculpting in your studio?? That's a form of art too, isn't it!

    • Teri: indeed body sculpting is art but I’m not even close to being at the chiseling stage. And given the amount of “kept” treasures I’ve had to store, I’m thinking I still have things left to say in the art world.

  3. HI Jen-Just wanted to tell you how much I adore your art and love your spirit. Sure wish you were closer, like my next door neighbor:) I admire so much that you just DO whatever you're inspired to do. Right now, I am approaching my 50th birthday, and this is the year I vow to find and nurture my authentic self, live with integrity and be true to that inner creative soul waiting to come out. Lost my way for a while, after my mom passed away in 2006, fell into a chasm of tumultous emotions, and still haven't returned 100%. But, this is the year. Baby steps toward the dream! Am actually putting the pieces in place to establish a nonprofit Arts & Regional Cultural Heritage center, a gathering place to bring creative minds together sharing ideas, making art and working side by side honoring our heritage of Goodness. Anyhow, just wanted to share that as YOU are an excellent role model, inspiring bold creative expression! Mixed media, altered books, textiles, handmade papers and collage are some of my favorite things to play with. Anxious to follow you and see what you come up with next. Can't let that spark and that hungry heart grow cold, neglected. Must feed it and embrace the messages… Thanks for all you add to the beauty and joy of our world. Blessings and peace to you and your family… If you ever get down to the Flying Pig any time soon, please give a heads up so we can come out and meet you! (my 2 daughters and I enjoy checking out new artists and places:) Be well!

    • Lori Marie, thank you for your kind words. Here’s to nurturing one’s authentic self. Only good can come out of that. Don’t be a stranger!

  4. Here is to new beginnings!!! Looking forward to reading about your new venture!

    • Carla: thank you for all your support. And congrats on your new job. How exciting!

  5. Perhaps you should keep marinating those artistic ideas in the back of your mind. One day you might just feel the urge to cook up something again. You are way too talented to never say never!

    • For the first time last week I had that adrenaline rush of inspiration. It's been so long I almost didn't recognize it! lol
