My name is Jen Worden.
I live in the boonies …aka rural Nova Scotia… part of a place known as Canada, alternately known as Canuck Land, Nanook Land or the Great White North. (take off, eh?)
I am happily married to my best friend. We have three children and a cat. We used to farm. Now I do THIS for a living.
I can … milk a cow, make cheese (feta is my specialty), give an injection, remove stitches, slaughter poultry, get an ornery horse over a jump, make roux, start sourdough, sew a man’s 3 piece suit, tell you the latin names of most perennials, roll my tongue, do a triathlon.
Art has been a life-long obsession. It keeps me sane.
I have done watercolour, pen and ink illustration, digital media, paper and bookmaking. My current love is mixed media collage and assemblage. I would love to try printmaking. (and just did!)
I am the youngest of 4. My oldest brother died when he was just 44.
I plan on living on another continent before I die. I have a Mediterranean soul. I could thrive happily on olives, rustic bread, homemade cheese and good wine. I am a better than average cook.
I cry at stupid made-for-TV movies though I’m not a big fan of most popular TV shows.
I alternate between being frantically busy and idle to the point of laziness. I am stubborn. Sometimes I can be very, very selfish. Friendship doesn’t come easily to me but I am fanatically loyal.
I know all the words to Sound of Music.
When I was in high school I tried out for the National Theater School. I used to live in Montreal. I was once bilingual. Music soothes me. I have eclectic taste.
I am not here to make you feel comfortable.
